Notice biographique : (Douai 1629 - Oxfordshire 1699). Franciscain récollet, fréquenta le collège anglais de Douai, où il enseigna la philosophie et la théologie, puis devint missionnaire en Angleterre et se fixe dans la région d'Oxford. Il a tenté de donner une présentation "scolastique" de l'oeuvre de Descartes, ce qui lui valut le surnom d'"abréviteur de Descartes". Des querelles l'opposèrent également à John Sergeant sur la nature des idées. On lui doit différents ouvrages de philosophie, qui font de lui l'un des premiers grands représentants d'une scolastique "cartésienne".
